A colour admired in a photograph may look different in your home. Review a physical microcement sample in the actual space to assess shade, texture and sheen together before approval.
Why a phone image is insufficient
Images help communicate warm sand, grey or light tones, but screens and photography lighting alter colour. Topciment’s colour chart describes displayed shades as indicative and notes effects of grain, application, lighting and dimensions. Use photos to start discussion and a physical sample for approval.
A representative sample
Include the proposed system, texture, protective layer and sheen. Record product, colour code if available and final finish, and ask when the sample is ready to assess. Ideal Work’s Microtopping catalogue recommends a custom sample to view actual colour and finish.
View in position
Place floor samples horizontally and wall samples vertically near their location. Review in daylight and the intended evening lighting from several seats. Disclose unfinished lighting before final approval. Compare sofa/curtain fabrics and wood where available; note warmth, reflection and visible finishing movement.
Agree texture and contrast
Hand application may create movement and tonal variation according to system and technique. Discuss subtle or stronger contrast. Ideal Work’s Microtopping HP sheet notes tonal differences from FC even with the same pigments, so colour name alone does not determine appearance. A sample records the agreed direction rather than reproducing every hand movement across the whole room. Discuss prominent marks rather than automatically accepting all variation.
Compare consistently
Consider narrowing to two or three options, in the same position and lighting, with reasons for acceptance. Agree a site trial area if useful, especially where texture is central. For TV walls, view from the seating position with planned lighting.
Same colour on wall and floor?
State this early and ask whether suitable systems differ. View both samples together even with the same colour name, review their junction and decide on close matching or deliberate contrast. Approve each surface separately.
Approval checklist
Record colour/code, product, sheen, texture and contrast, and defined work area. Keep the approved sample and discuss any product or protective-layer change before application. Send Almusaileem room photos, reference style and whether the finish is for a floor or wall.
