Epoxy cleaning depends on the floor system and finish coat. Keep the installer and manufacturer instructions, especially when washing or machine cleaning may begin. One product's instructions do not automatically apply to every floor.
Remove dust before wet cleaning
Use a tool suitable for the surface to remove sand and dirt. Sika's maintenance guidance explains that dirt combined with wheel movement can scratch coatings and change their appearance. Keep tools clean and confirm bristle or pad suitability.
Choose an approved cleaner
- Use a cleaner accepted for the system at its specified dilution.
- A generic “floor cleaner” description does not establish compatibility.
- Follow rinsing and drying instructions.
- Test new products using the manufacturer's recommended method.
Avoid unapproved chemicals and abrasive materials or tools. For machine cleaning, check the pad, pressure and operation rather than judging suitability by appearance.
Respond to spills according to the substance
Identify the spilled material and follow the relevant procedure. Remove it promptly according to system instructions without spreading it. If colour or sheen changes, photograph the area and record the substance and exposure time rather than covering the mark with an unknown product.
Protection reduces repair needs
Do not drag furniture or heavy equipment. Keep entrances clean and review trolley wheels, furniture feet and how they are used. Note scratches, damage or peeling early and request an assessment.
Maintain a care record
Keep the system name, finish coat, approved cleaners, use dates and maintenance plan. The linked Sika guidance concerns its systems and does not mean they were installed in your project. No fixed recoating interval can be established without knowing the system and floor condition.
