Epoxy handover involves more than checking colour. Compare the work with the quotation and approved sample, record observations and receive use and care instructions. This checklist organises the discussion and does not replace specialist tests specified for the project.
Review the agreement before the inspection
- Included area and surfaces, and exclusions.
- System name, layers, agreed thickness and how it is verified if required.
- Approved colour, texture and sheen.
- Substrate preparation, repairs and responsibilities.
Record visible observations
Inspect under the room's lighting from several angles. Photograph and locate blisters, pinholes, peeling or incomplete areas if present. Discuss differences against the sample and written acceptance criteria. Do not invent technical tolerances after installation.
Edges, joints and drains
Review junctions with walls and doors and boundaries around drains. Joint treatment should follow the agreed detail. Water or performance tests must use the approved procedure and timing for the system, rather than an improvised handover test.
Separate walking from full use
Ask for explicit dates for walking, furniture, vehicles and equipment. Sika's MultiDur EB-16 UV (G) information gives different times for pedestrian access, light traffic and full cure depending on conditions. This illustrates why dates must be specified; it is not a universal epoxy timetable.
Keep the handover file
Retain material names, scope, cleaning instructions, any agreed warranty terms, observations and their resolution process. Do not scratch or pull material from the floor yourself as a substitute for approved inspection procedures.
