Before choosing epoxy for a garage in Kuwait, prepare information about the floor and actual use. A photograph of an attractive garage is not sufficient to approve a system for your site. Use these seven checks to organise assessment, quotation and handover.
1. Document the existing floor
Take overall photographs and close-ups of cracks, peeling, oil stains and drain edges. State whether the substrate is concrete, ceramic or an old coating. Let the specialist define removal, repairs and preparation.
2. Describe known water and moisture
Mention water entering at the door, areas staying damp and any history of blisters or peeling, even if the cause is unknown. Ask how the substrate is tested and which limits apply to the proposed system. Appearance alone does not establish dryness.
3. Define vehicle and equipment traffic
Explain vehicle numbers, parking and movement, trolleys, equipment and any maintenance activity. Different epoxy systems address different operating conditions.
4. Identify sun and washing exposure
Photograph the entrance and state sunlight, rain and washing exposure. Request confirmation that the proposed system and finish coat suit those conditions, with exclusions identified.
5. Separate appearance from slip performance
Approve a visual sample, then separately request the required performance for dry, wet or oily conditions. Sheen alone is insufficient. Confirm suitable cleaning methods.
6. Review joints, edges and drains
The quotation should explain existing joints, wall and doorway junctions and drain edges. Any changes to falls or ponding areas need a defined scope and responsible party.
7. Agree return to use and handover
Confirm separate walking, vehicle and equipment dates for the system and site conditions. Obtain written care instructions and retain the system name, scope and sample. Any warranty must be written in the quotation.
What should you send?
- Area in Kuwait and approximate garage size.
- Overall and close-up defect photographs.
- Current surface and known moisture or peeling.
- Use, sunlight and water exposure.
- Required timing and ability to clear the space.
