A marble-effect wall involves more than colour. Vein size, direction and panel junctions affect the finished appearance. Review a representative sample and the layout against your actual wall dimensions before approving installation.
View the sample in your room
Ask for product and model names. “Marble alternative” does not specify composition or performance, and phone photos are insufficient for colour and sheen. Compare with flooring, paint and furniture under normal lighting, from several angles and in daylight near a window. Decide whether you prefer prominent or quieter veins.
A small sample may show a quiet section of a much stronger full-panel pattern. Request a full-panel image or closer review when veins are large.
Approve the layout before cutting
Mark the cladding boundary, vertical or horizontal direction, pattern start and finish, and expected seams. Show the TV position so you know which parts remain visible.
Do not assume adjacent panels provide continuous or mirrored veins. If bookmatching or continuity matters, confirm that the selected model and available pieces support it, and approve their arrangement before cutting.
- Review from the entrance and usual seating position.
- Compare seams with the wall centre and furniture.
- Identify visible areas around screens or mirrors.
- Record differences between the reference design and available product.
Include edges and openings
Agree finishes at corners, paint transitions, doors and sockets, including visible edge trims. Set positions of switches, openings and mounted elements before work. Electrical relocation or TV/shelf mounting needs a clear specialist scope. Cladding alone does not establish load-bearing suitability; assess the fixing, bracket and base for the item.
Keep approval specific
Retain product/model details, approved sample photo, wall boundaries, piece arrangement, edges and openings. Define preparation, supply, installation, protection and cleaning, and how any change must be approved. Review water and heat exposure, fixing and care against product information and site condition; avoid universal suitability promises.
