Protect a microcement floor by checking furniture feet, fitting suitable protectors, lifting items and removing sand before moving them. For a new floor, confirm furniture-loading dates for the installed system and sealer. A protective coat does not make dragging or exposed metal feet harmless.
When may furniture enter a new floor?
Ask for a clear date and interim limits. Permission to walk does not necessarily permit heavy furniture, and touch dryness does not establish readiness. Topciment's care guidance calls for extra care during the initial period while resistance develops.
Record the sealer and final-coat date, and ask about temporary covering. If the moving company is booked too early, change the arrangements before delivery.
Inspect every chair and table foot
Safely turn the item onto a protected surface. Check for exposed metal, missing or split protectors and unstable feet. Three protected feet do not compensate for an unprotected fourth.
- Choose protectors matching the foot's shape and size and follow their fitting instructions.
- Use suitable felt rather than assuming hard plastic caps are equivalent.
- Clean the foot before fitting and check the protector stays in place.
- Prioritise frequently moved dining and majlis chairs.

Office chairs and castors

Measure where the chair travels when you stand up, not only where it sits beneath the desk. Check the mat material, backing, stability and edges. A general claim that a mat suits all floors is insufficient.
Plan moving day
- Decide furniture positions beforehand.
- Remove sand and small stones and agree temporary protection with the installer.
- Tell the team to lift rather than drag and to use adequate people or suitable equipment.
- Check trolley wheels for cleanliness, condition and suitability.
- Fit foot protectors before final placement.
Ideal Work's care information emphasises limiting sand entry and protecting floors during moving and other work. Agree a suitable fixing method for covers; do not apply arbitrary adhesive tape directly to the sealer.
After moving
Inspect and clean protectors during routine cleaning and after furniture changes rooms. Replace worn or detached pads. If a mark appears, photograph it and identify what moved over it. Have the installer assess whether it is a surface mark or coating damage before sanding or using an unapproved polish. A repair is not guaranteed to disappear completely.

Does felt prevent every scratch? It is a precaution needing correct fitting and maintenance. It does not replace lifting furniture or removing grit.
Can furniture enter as soon as sealer feels dry? Use system and installer instructions, not touch alone.
